Sunset Wrasse - Thalassoma lutescens male: The Sunset Wrasse (male) is also known as the Yellow-brown Wrasse, Banana Wrasse, or Yellow Wrasse. As an adult, it takes and a blue appearance. Both sexes have facial markings in green and fine vertical striping along the body. The fins are very colorfully marked.

The Sunset Wrasse (male) is a saltwater species that are found in the areas of Coral Sea and Tonga, north to southern Japan, Sri Lanka, south to south eastern Australia. The behavior of Sunset Wrasse (male) is normally aggressive with other tank mates. Sunset Wrasse (male) is not reef compatible.

Sunset Wrasse (male) should reside in an 80 gallon or larger aquarium, with other aggressive tank mates, and plenty of rocks for hiding. Sunset Wrasse (male) often loves rock with many places for them to hide in at night or when frightened as they do not bury in the sand. Sunset Wrasse (male) will become territorial and harass any new additions to the community therefore Sunset Wrasse (male) should be added last to the tank. It may be kept with a mate, if the aquarium is 125 gallons or larger. Sunset Wrasse (male) needs plenty of swimming room and will harass new fish introduced to the tank if they are smaller or close in shape.

Sunset Wrasse (male) has a natural diet consists of fish, crustaceans, motile invertebrates, and worms. The diet in an aquarium should include a variety of feeder shrimp, marine flesh, frozen meaty preparations for carnivores, and flaked foods. Sunset Wrasse (male) may eat mantis shrimp and bristle worms. It does not eat corals or live plants.

Sunset Wrasse (male) is easy to take care of and can be handled by a moderately trained aquarist. It is a medium maintenance fish and is not reef compatible. They do not have any specific swimming level but need lot of space to swim. Hence needs a large aquarium. Sunset Wrasse (male) is not reef compatible.

Maximum Size: Sunset Wrasse (male) grows up to 12 inches
