The Purple Tilefish Goby has an attractive solid lilac-purple body color with darker crimson-red markings highlighting a v-shape on the tail. The Purple Tilefish Goby may jump out of the tank so keep them in covered tank. They need places to burrow and prefer presence of substrate. The Purple Tilefish are often found in pairs. As a mid water fish, the Purple Tilefish Goby needs a medium to large sized tank with plenty of swimming space.
The Purple Tilefish Gob are not bold fish. In fact, they are anything but bold. At the first sign of danger the Purple Tilefish Goby will drop to the seafloor alongside the entrance to their den. If the danger does not dissipate, the Purple Tilefish Goby will disappear into the den quicker than a diver can blink his eyes. Only after the perceived threat has vacated the immediate area will this fish once again extend themselves outside of their burrow to survey the situation.
Minimum Tank Size Suggested: The Purple Tilefish Goby requires a 50 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of swimming room, and at least 3 inches of mixed substrate for burrowing. It may be aggressive towards members of its own species but is peaceful with other fish.
