Pictilis Female Anthias - Pseudanthias pictilis - Pictilis Anthias
Also referred to as the Painted Goldie, the Pictilis Anthias is pinkish-blue, with a large blue oval on the caudal fin, and bright orange-red coloration on the rear 1/3 of the body.
Although a 25 gallon tank will suffice for one fish, if keeping a group, you may need up to a 125 gallon tank. It prefers a tank with multiple hiding places and caves. The diet of the Pictilis Anthias is similar to that of other Anthias species - zooplankton and floating filamentous algae.
Although it often swims in open water, the Pictilis Anthias requires several caves or hiding places where it can rest and avoid intense reef lighting. These fish are completely reef safe and should not bother any corals, clams, or invertebrates. They are best kept singly unless you have a larger tank of 125 gallons or more. When keeping in groups keep one male with two to four females. Two males will often fight unless kept in a large aquarium with plenty of females. Best if fed frozen preparations containing mysid shrimp, brine shrimp, and other finely chopped marine meats twice per day.
Maximum Size: The Pictilis Anthias grows up to 6 inches.
Minimum Tank Size Suggested: The Pictilis Anthias prefers a tank of over 125 gallons
Water Conditions: 74-80° F; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4
Habitat: Pictilis Anthias are found near Western Central Atlantic: Florida (USA), Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean. Absent from the Gulf of Mexico.

Feeding and Diet: Zooplankton feeder that will also eat some algae. Provide with a varied diet. Feed Pictilis anthias at least a couple of times per day.
